Leopard Gecko Cage Remodel!

January 7, 2020 by Maya Leave a Comment

Hey Guys!

First of all, as you probably guessed from the title, I have a leopard gecko. His name is Mochi. I am pretty sure he is a blizzard morph (color pattern or bred with altered genes). I have had Mochi for about a year now and we still have a long run and a lot more bonding to do in the future. He is quite skittish towards me but he has gotten a lot better more recently.

But anyways, on to the cage remodel.

Let’s get right into the before! Before this remodel I did not have the hides and stuff I would’ve liked. One of the lids to the cage had broken and was unsafe – it was only unsafe for a day, but I kept a close eye on it until I had the necessary materials to handle it – , the water bowl was slightly too small, and he didn’t have a bowl sized to fit his calcium powder.

In the after photo you can see the great difference in variety. Mochi is much more energetic and adventurous in his surroundings.

Luckily, my brother’s wife Tay, has snakes and hermit crabs. She let me have an assortment of reptile goodies and bowls. I was so ecstatic! That night I washed and sanitized everything she had given me.

If you’re wandering the size of the tank then here you go. I’m not certain but, it is a 40-50 gallon long… we got it at a local thrift store in perfect condition.

Hope you guys have an amazing day or night wherever you are and remember to stay positive and be kind!
